Austin City Council approved a $23M contract to build a new bridge over Lady Bird Lake

Austin City Council approved Thursday a nearly $23 million contract to build a new bridge across Lady Bird Lake near the Longhorn Dam.


The now-approved construction contract is with Jay-Reese Contractors Inc., with a $20.7 million baseline amount along with an additional $2 million in contingencies. The project will create a new pedestrian and cyclist bridge across Lady Bird Lake, near the Longhorn Dam in east Austin.

      • December 10, 2019 Open House and Survey

      • July 2020, Preliminary Engineering Report (Completed)

      • April 2021, Interim sidewalk improvements (Completed)

      • Summer 2021 to Fall 2023, Design and Permitting (Completed)

      • Winter 2024, Bidding (Completed)

      • Spring, Summer 2024 Construction Initiation

      • Spring, Summer 2026 Construction completion
